Trains hold great importance in Japanese culture, which is reflected in the numerous railway-themed events, museums, and tourist attractions throughout the country. One such event is the Shimokita Railway Festival, taking place in Tokyo this May. The festival’s concept is “a cultural festival that you can enjoy with all five senses,” and it will be held along a 1.7-kilometer route that connects three train stations: Setagaya-Daita Station, Shimokitazawa Station, and Higashi-Kitazawa Station.
The Shimokita Railway Festival will offer a wide variety of fun, family-friendly activities to enjoy, including a free petting zoo located outside Shimokitazawa Station, a range of food booths, handicrafts for sale, and more. Admission to the event is free, but if you plan on making a purchase, be sure to bring some yen.
