Held on in the beautiful Amanohashidate area, this event features lantern floating and fireworks for a magical evening in Shimasaki Park. The floating of 10,000 Toro Nagashi lanterns takes place from 6 pm until 7.30 pm and the display of over 3,000 fireworks begins after that, continuing until 8.30 pm. The festival has a 400-year history and was originally held to see off the spirits of the deceased, with fireworks being added in 1924. The traditional Miyazu dance is performed among the ceremonies and stalls so we highly recommend you arrive in time for the festival as well as the fireworks!
For 2022, the fireworks are canceled, but the lantern floating is going ahead.
