Kimono are an important part of Japanese culture, and the upcoming Kimono Expo in Tokyo allows visitors to experience the splendor of these traditional garments in a variety of unique ways.
The event will include talks about kimono-related topics from experts in the industry, including the likes of Niigata’s Echigo Dyeing Studio and Ito Sachi, one of Japan’s leading fabric manufacturers. There will also be a number of hands-on workshops for attendees to participate in, such as Bingata fabric dyeing (a dyeing technique that originated in Okinawa) and obi sash making.
For those not based in the Tokyo area, a sister event will be held in Osaka from October 26th until October 31st at the Hankyu Grand Building (26 F).
