Description

**About the company:** Money Forward Minato-ku, Tokyo Money Forward is a fintech startup delivering tools to visualize and improve both individuals' and companies' financial health. **Responsibilities:** [Key Responsibilities] As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for autonomous task management, including scoping complex technical requirements, breaking down work into manageable deliverables, and planning for reliable execution. You will drive cross-functional coordination by actively engaging with teams outside your own to clarify technical requirements, align dependencies, and follow up on confirmations of verification. You will also support the team by providing guidance and mentorship to peers rather than working in isolation. From a technical standpoint, you will contribute insights on reliability, risk, and operational readiness to advise department leadership and stakeholders. You will oversee system observability and monitoring, lead efforts in infrastructure cost optimization, technical migration and modernization, security hardening of software delivery processes, and direct automated infrastructure provisioning and deployment activities. [Expected Role and Impact] The Site Reliability Engineer is expected to act as a senior technical contributor and subject matter expert within the team. You will translate business and departmental objectives into scoped technical projects and actionable delivery plans. You will serve as an advisor to engineering managers and stakeholders, offering insights on reliability, risk, and operational readiness without direct people management responsibilities. Your role includes guiding and mentoring team members to foster technical growth and collaborative delivery while ensuring high operational standards. [What You’ll Gain and Experience] In this role, you will gain extensive hands-on experience driving key SRE initiatives that directly impact business continuity and customer satisfaction. You will have the opportunity to design and improve large-scale observability, deployment, and reliability processes while balancing cost, performance, and security. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders across the organization, you will develop strong collaborative problem-solving and communication skills, as well as deepen your technical expertise in modern infrastructure, DevOps, and SRE practices. This position offers the chance to influence strategic technical decisions and see your initiatives reflected in measurable improvements to system reliability and efficiency. Requirements Demonstrated experience in autonomous task management, including scoping projects, breaking down work, and planning for timely delivery. Strong technical project planning skills with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in alignment with departmental goals. Proven experience in cross-functional coordination, engaging with teams outside your own to clarify requirements, align dependencies, and follow up on verification confirmations. Track record of providing mentorship and technical guidance to team members, collaborating effectively rather than working in isolation. Ability to evaluate systems and provide actionable insights on operational readiness, system risks, and reliability standards. [Technical] Hands-on experience with system observability and monitoring, including designing metrics, logs, and traces to understand system behavior and performance. Experience in infrastructure cost optimization, such as right-sizing resources, leveraging appropriate services, and introducing cost transparency. Experience in technical migration and modernization efforts (e.g., moving to cloud-native architectures, refactoring legacy systems, or adopting modern deployment practices). Experience with security hardening of software delivery, including secure pipelines, access control, and compliance with security best practices. Practical experience with infrastructure provisioning and deployment (e.g., using infrastructure-as-code and automated deployment pipelines).
