Description
Rapyuta Robotics, an ETH Zurich spinoff headquartered in Tokyo, operates with the goal of making robots more accessible to anyone in the logistics industry. We seek individuals who believe that collaborative work leads to more effective and sustainable outcomes, and who are fearless in challenging limits, whether within themselves or in their surroundings. You will lead the squads that turn warehouse orders into coordinated work for fleets of robots and equipment, across our ASRS and AMR products. The work covers real-time orchestration and dispatch, traffic control, fleet management and robot state machines. It sits between our planning layer and the behavior control software on the robots, and it has to run reliably and deliver the performance each site commits to. Responsibilities Execution software: Own orchestration, dispatch, traffic control, fleet management and robot state machines end to end, from roadmap to production. Interfaces: Make sure the contracts for commands, state and events with the planning layer above and the robots' behavior control below are clearly defined, reviewed and kept stable, so each side can change independently. Quality first: Make quality the default, not a final gate. Practice test-driven development, automate testing at every layer and validate in simulation before changes reach a site. Production reliability: Make faults, recovery and degraded modes predictable on live sites. Drive testing, observability and incident response. Delivery: Turn the roadmap and customer deployments into plans the squads can execute, and keep releases predictable. Work closely with mechatronics, systems and field teams. People: Lead one to two squads. Hire, coach, give timely feedback and address underperformance. Grow tech leads who can own design inside their squads. Requirements A track record of owning delivery of control or execution systems that run in production: WCS, WES, MES, SCADA-adjacent systems or robot fleet management. Experience taking products from 10 to 100: turning a system that works at a few sites into one that runs reliably for many customers and sites. A controls and execution mindset: state machines, real-time constraints, failure handling and recovery, and system behavior under load. A quality-first mindset, with hands-on practice of test-driven development and automated testing, and a record of raising the quality bar of the teams you lead. Familiarity with ISA-95 (IEC 62264) and experience designing at the MES or WCS layer, integrating enterprise systems with real-time equipment control. Experience with formal modeling of enterprise systems (for example state machines, process and data models) and with building systems that handle data and execution at scale. Demonstrated leadership and potential to grow further, grounded in fit with our core values and technical credibility, with a willingness to coach, give feedback and build healthy teams. Exposure to customer sites: commissioning, field issues or operations support. Business-level English. Benefits Competitive compensation package Globally diverse workplace Exposure to cutting-edge robotics technology Visa sponsorship Relocation support Commuting allowance Flexible working hours and dress code policy Japanese Social Security (Health Insurance, Pension, Employment Insurance)
