Forward Deployed Engineer (AI), Native/N1 Japanese, Consulting — Tokyo

Location requirement You must already be living in Japan with valid work authorization. We are not sponsoring relocation or visa transfers from overseas for this role. Applications from outside Japan will not be considered. The context Abbeal is recruiting a Forward Deployed Engineer for one of our client companies in Tokyo. The role sits between engineering and the customer: you go on site, understand how the business really works, and turn AI into something that runs in production for them. What you'll do Work directly with customers, in Japanese, to understand their processes and where AI can actually help Design and deploy AI solutions (LLM, generative AI, RAG, agents) in the customer's environment, from prototype to production Bridge business teams, product and engineering, and translate needs into concrete technical work Bring field feedback back to the product team Present, explain and defend your choices in front of business stakeholders What we're looking for Currently based in Japan with valid work authorization — no relocation or visa sponsorship from overseas for this role Native or JLPT N1 Japanese. N2 can work for an outstanding profile English is a plus, not a requirement Experience in a Big 4 or a consulting firm (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG, Accenture or similar) Strong, hands-on knowledge of AI: LLMs, generative AI, putting AI into production for clients Comfortable in front of clients and in the code Terms Permanent position with our client (direct hire) Tokyo Salary discussed at the first call Start as soon as possible Stack LLM / Generative AI, RAG / AI agents, Python, Cloud (AWS / Azure / GCP), AI in production, client-facing consulting.
