Kameoka Hozugawa River Firework Display

Part of the annual peace festival, this display is as famous for its fireworks as it is for the beautiful food stalls that are illuminated at night. The event takes place on the Hozu river banks and has paid seats as well as plenty of free viewing spots like in Oigawa Ryokuchi East Park. The show draws crowds of around 75,000 so if you want a good spot head over a little early. If you like, you can take a boat from nearby Arashiyama. If postponed, it will take place on the 13th of August.
