The Atami Plum Garden in Shizuoka is famous for its early-blooming plum trees, and visitors can enjoy the sight of close to 500 trees in 59 different varieties during the annual plum festival. With early, mid, and late-blooming trees, there is always something in bloom during the festival period which runs from mid-February to mid-March. Admission to the garden during the festival is priced at 300 yen for adults, and free for junior high school students and younger children.
